Kickin’ It On Route 66 at Scissortail Park
The Asian District Cultural Association was proud to have a booth at Kickin’ It on Route 66: OKC Centennial Celebration, joining neighbors and community members at Scissortail Park in marking 100 years of one of America’s most iconic highways. The event was a natural fit for the Asian District, not just as a cultural community, but as a piece of Route 66 history itself.
The 23rd & Classen corridor carried Route 66 traffic from the very beginning— 1926! The Vietnamese community arrived decades later in the 1970s, but the pavement beneath the district has been part of the Mother Road from day one.
ADCA was thrilled to celebrate that legacy alongside the rest of Oklahoma City. Pictured is Steve Le, Executive Director of ADCA, proudly showcasing the “Year of the Horse” t-shirt during the event.

Fresh On the Boat Ready to Race!
For the past 10 weeks, members and friends of the Asian District Cultural Association and Bungalow23 have been training together as the "Fresh On the Boat" Dragon Boat Team. Through early mornings, sore muscles, plenty of laughter, and countless paddle strokes, our team has built camaraderie, strength, and determination on the water.
Now, we're excited to put our hard work to the test as we compete for the very first time at the Stars & Stripes River Festival Dragon Boat Races on June 27 at the Oklahoma River!
Dragon boat racing is a centuries-old tradition that celebrates teamwork, culture, and community—values that are at the heart of ADCA. We are proud to bring together paddlers of all backgrounds to represent the Asian District and showcase the spirit of collaboration that makes our community so special.
If you're attending the Stars & Stripes River Festival, be sure to cheer on the Fresh On the Boat team as we take to the water for our inaugural race. Wish us luck! We're ready to paddle our hearts out!
VisitOKC Spotlight in the
Asian District
Cameras were rolling in the Asian District as Visit OKC filmed segments for an upcoming tourism video set to debut later this year!
Featured in the shoot were Andrea Schultz, owner of HQ Coffee and former ADCA Executive Director, Thuan Nguyen, owner of THN Insurance and founder of ADCA, and Councilman James Cooper.
Filming took place at Grand House, highlighting the vibrant culture, businesses, and stories that make the Asian District a must-visit destination in Oklahoma City. We can't wait to see the finished product and share our community with visitors from near and far!
